New tenure-track faculty participate in an ongoing orientation, the Scholarship and Teaching Excellence Program (STEP), during their first full academic year. Faculty who completes all eligibility requirements will be notified of their eligibility through email.
STEP funding is awarded solely for scholarly activity that will contribute to their career growth at Texas State. Most requests are approved if they sufficiently justify how the funds will help their research/career.
Common uses of the funds are for conference registration, parts of travel, equipment for research, books, or other expenses related to faculty’s scholarship and creative activities. The Center for Teaching, Learning, & Scholarship will transfer the funds directly to each qualified department by the end of April 2026, regardless of when faculty use the funding.
